Der Verein verfolgt die Aufgabe, den länderübergreifenden Wirtschaftsraum zu entwickeln und zu vermarkten. Ziel war, auch für Gera die Vernetzungseffekte zu netzen, um langfristig positive Effekte für die Stadt zu erzielen.“, so der Abgeordnete.
Die Wirtschaftsinitiative war die Chance für Gera konsequent das Thema Wirtschaft zu besetzen und sich mit anderen Kommunen und Unternehmen zu vernetzen. "Gerade für die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Gera's wäre eine Fortsetzung dringend geboten gewesen", so Lemb. Diese Option wurde von der Stadt nun in leichtfertiger Weise aufgegeben. Zu fragen ist auch, warum es versäumt wurde Unternehmen in diese Initiative einzubinden.
Eine Stadt wie Gera kann es sich nicht leisten auf derartige Vernetzungen von Unternehmen und Kommunen zu verzichten.
Lemb kritisiert diese äußert kurzsichtige Entscheidung zum Nachteil der Stadt Gera außerordentlich.
"Ein europäischer Kulturdialog ist gut und kann punktuell zu positiven Effekten führen, aber eine langfristig angelegte, vernetzte Zusammenarbeit zur Förderung der Wirtschaft in Gera, nicht ersetzen", merkt Lemb abschliessend an.
